After over 2 years of talk and much hype about THAT film and not much action to be honest, no cinema release, a missed DVD release date and even unthinkable talk about George's appearance being left on the cutting room floor ... well never fear, I have finally seen Things To Do Before You're 30 in it's entirety and George's role as Montgomery is still very much intact.
Amid much mindless shenanigans of a bunch of twenty somethings, including Billie Piper wandering through a changing room full of naked men, George stars as the owner of a restaurant. His son Dylan, played by Jimi Mistry, spends most of his time at the restaurant hankering after Claire, played by Nina Young, who happens to be engaged to Montgomery.
George's first scene is in said restaurant. The restaurant is closed and Montgomery is sat talking with Dylan while expertly pouring a cup of tea from a rather delicate looking teapot before Dylan abruptly leaves. He only gets as far as his push bike outside the restaurant before Montgomery catches up with him and further debate ensues.
Montgomery isn't quite dressed in the style of Anton Meyer's designer suits but he's a step above Ken Jackson in the fashion stakes wearing a suit and open necked shirt is all his scenes.
George's second scene is again with Dylan and another member of the football team around which the film is based who works as a chef at the restaurant. Dylan is making eyes at Montgomery's love interest and George sails through the scene with copious use of the pointing thumb!
Unfortunately, this is the last we see of George for almost an hour. During which time we are 'treated' to some girl on girl action between Billie Piper's character, Vicky and Sheera played by Keira Jane Malik (daughter of Art Malik), a dubious threesome, much domestic strife and a back seat, suspension testing, encounter with Dougray Scott's character.
George returns towards the end of the film when the team are preparing to finally play the much cancelled and momentous 500th match for their team, Athletico Greenwich. Again the scene is between Montgomery and his son Dylan and this time we are treated to a massive smile as the main question raised between the two of them is answered. Who wins the lady? Well without giving too much away ... who do you think?
